An Introduction To Unidentified Flying Objects

UFO’s are physical but mysterious phenomena attributed to intelligent beings from other planets. The study of UFO’s is called Ufology and those who conduct related research, Ufologists. Phenomena associated with psychic or spiritual realms are not part of ufology.

The data analyzed in ufology comes from pictures, video footage and witness testimony. For this reason it is an observational and not experimental field, like astronomy. Unlike astronomy, however, it is not an official scientific field that one can work towards a degree in from a university.

UFO anomalies typically fall into four main categories:

1) Flying objects exhibiting flight signatures impossible by man-made airborne vehicles, such as abrupt levitation or right-angle turns.

2) Inorganic and organic material that falls from the sky such as “angel hair”.

3) Abductions of people, mutilations of domestic animals, disappearances of ships or airplanes.

4) Evidence of advanced technology in prerecorded history such as megalithic monuments, pictures of planes and helicopters, and levitation.

Skeptics attempt to provide conventional explanations for all these phenomena.

There are reports of UFO’s from as far back as 1500 B.C. Reliable people have been recording these phenomena throughout history. In modern times, thousands of people have sworn under oath about having seen mysterious flying machines in the sky.

A large percentage of the witnesses are intelligent professionals who have nothing to gain by reporting UFO sightings while there is much to risk including job, social life and sanity. Scoffers of UFO’s are likely wrong. Some qualified scientists have conceded that there is something to the reports. Even retired astronauts have come forward and confessesed sightings of their own while in space.

Conservative scientists believe that the non-existence of UFO’s is supported by more arguments than their existence. Most have not taken the time to study the phenomenon out of a decision that no extraterrestrial occupants can survive light years of space travel. The core assumption is that space is three-dimensional and that it has to be trasversed. You are encouraged to do more research.
