Laws Banning Cell Phone Use Don’t Seem To Be Cutting It

It was recently shown in through research that legislation banning cell phone use while driving fail to reduce crashes. According to the new Highway Loss Data Institute, there have been no reductions in crashes since cell phone bans have taken effect.

This information was obtained by a comparison among insurance claims for crash damage in four United States jurisdictions both before and after these bans.

Month to month fluctuations in the rates of collision claims in the jurisdictions with bans were taken into account and it was found that there was no difference between either area. Despite the fact that the cell phone bans have diminshed hand held phone use, several studies have established that talking on the phone increases crash risk. It has been determined by two independent studies that people who use cell phones are four times as likely to crash. The information that the HLDI uses doesn’t identify drivers using cell phones when their crashes occur. But the reductions of observed phone use have been so large, one would suspect that crashes should be reduced as well.

“So the new data that we have collected doesn’t match what we currently know about the risk of phoning and texting while driving,” An analyst asserts. “Clearly, if crash risk increases with phone use and there are less people using cell phones, we would expect to see a decrease in crashes. But we aren’t seeing it. Nor do we see collision claim increases before the phone bans came into play. This is surprising, too, given what we know about the growing use of cell phones and the risk of talking on the cell while driving. We’re currently gathering data to figure out this mismatch.”

There are a number of factors that could be diminishing the effects of hand-held phone bans on crashes. One factor is that drivers in areas with cell phone bans might be switching to hands-free phones because no state forbids any type of these phones. If this was happening, crashes wouldn’t go down because the risk is about the same whether the phones are hand-held or hands-free. D.C. and twenty one states do ban beginning drivers from using hands-free phones, but these laws are difficult to enforce.

The Importance Of Your Data Recovery

Information technology is integrated in the majority of people’s daily lives. That is why data recovery is a must. The existence of many different circumstances paves the way for the recovery process to be critical. There are over 100 different ways damage to a computer that can affect the hard drive and other crucial components.

The process of recovery is initiated when there is damaged hardware or software which can make it virtually impossible of salvaging the information from the host computer. In which case, there needs to be a primary and secondary form of back-up.

The hard drive is the first place data is stored. Once the hard drive becomes damaged, it may be impossible to restore the data that is on it. For this reason, one should look into other methods of data storing. DVDs and Compact Discs will work and is the main method a person will used to keep copies of their data. Although it is not limited to discs, it is the preferred method since it will be cheaper and abundant.

The physical means should be secondary because the physical components can be damaged or lost in a disaster or robbery of any kind. This is where the concept of remote back-up service comes in. It is has true potential if you are preparing yourself for the worst case scenario. Your data can be accessed remotely from any computer with a broadband internet connection.

There are many options to choose from when choosing a online storage provider. Most anti-virus brands will offer this service for a relatively cheap price. They are the most dependable sources. Most online services will charge a small fee and provide customers with a security key or pass card for access. Keep in mind, there is a regulated amount of space available and it can be upgraded for a fraction of the price.

Flash memory is used as a method of protection but they are vulnerable to magnets and electricity. Universal Serial Bus ports and memory cards are commonly used to transfer files from computer to computer but they are limited in space storage. There are different types of DVDs used to record data. Normally, the most common types will have up to 10 gigabytes and others with double layers will have double the amount of space. Of course there will have to be a laser capable of reading both layers.

50 percent of computers will experience failure and the data in them lost. It will be considered safe practice to resort to effective data recovery. It will reduce rebuild time and keep the flow of processes running smoothly. There are some companies who crumble at the power of hardware failure but no recovery methods. For home users, may be just plain convenient.

General Research Methods: Current Article Guys Should Read!

Lets try something - I say “General Information” and you say the first thing that pops in your head. Ok, what popped in your head? I am guessing something without a real specific subject, right? Well, that is how research starts for most subjects. If you were looking for some information that was between 5 or 10 decades ago where would you possibly start looking? The library maybe?

Plus, it is kinda fun to go through those old books that most libraries have and just smell how old they really are! It is fun turning the pages of old books that are sometimes 50 or 100 years old looking for rare information on whatever subject you may be looking for.

But, lets get down to the best tools you can use and that is the information super highway which is the internet. It could easily take you 200 lifetimes and you still would not be able to put a dent into all of the information that is on the net now and is coming on the net daily. Start trying to find information on what you are searching for at public domain sites and government sites. Also, try some of the many other specific search engines that could help you that are on your topic as well.

Do you have any idea what type of info your trying to uncover? Like the format of the information? Some want MP3’s or PDF’s. Yet others want Doc files or Power Point Presentations or maybe an excel spreadsheet? There are also maps, guides, directories and all of them are more then likely on your subject your attempting to locate.

So, what I am getting at really is you need a game plan to get research done really. You need to map out exactly what it is you are trying to find, what format you want it in like I outlined above. You need to know what you want to do with the information once you do find it.

I know this all sounds a bit overwhelming but research can be at times. That is why I started this out by talking about general information. People start out just looking for general information and then eventually drill it down to the point of something very specific, a niche if you will.

Now, once you have drilled down to this very specific Niche such as “how to feed a purple goldfish on the weekend” you will then know it is a niche and you are doing your work correctly.

I bet the thought has crossed your mind about who the heck am I, exactly? I have been in one form or another doing this type of research for approx. 15 years give or take a year. I find it rewards and fascinating how I am able to be find something that people would not even try to find. This is my passion and I hope you enjoy it as well. The above should set you on the right course to drill down and maybe find what your looking for. I wish you the best of luck on your quest for knowledge.
