Fly Fishing is a type of angling that incorporates the use of a synthetic fly in order to catch a fish. Unlike with baiting methods, attracting fish this way means you have to throw the line a lot differently then you might be used to. Instead of casting off the bait, fly anglers must instead throw their line. This is due to the fake lures are not heavy enough to be thrown so where the bait ends up is left up to the heavily coated line.

Horror films are movies in which the goal is to terrify, shock, or illicit feelings of disgust from the watching audience. They have been around since the late eighteen hundreds and sometimes overlap with other genres such as thriller. During his long and prosperous career, he pioneered many techniques and methods which are still utilized in suspense and thriller movies today. Alfred is thought to be one of the greatest directors in the business with the majority of his forty plus full length films being considered timeless classics.

Alfred’s most famous early film, “Shadow of a Doubt” also happens to be one of the first psychological thrillers and the director’s personal favorite. The movie was so culturally significant that it was chosen to be included in the National Film Registry so that it’s spooky dialogue, overlapping characters, and criminal behavior could be watched and studied by movie enthusiasts for decades to come.

His most well known projects, such as “Vertigo”, “Rear Window”, and “Strangers on a Train” were completed throughout the fifties. Each of them showcased Hitchcock’s natural ability to frighten an audience with intelligent plots, emotionally unstable characters, and well placed spooky music.

Though creatures such as Godzilla are incredibly scary, most of the genre’s most terrifying thriller and psychological movies are ones where the attacker or ‘creature’ is never even shown. “Rosemary’s Baby” did a wonderful job with this by not showing the demonic infant that was mentioned and talked about throughout the film. Other projects such as “The Blair Witch Project” in the late nineties and “Jaws” executed this method as well. By not showing a person or object, filmmakers could actually force the viewers to fear it much more.

Another popular and effective technique involves the placement and type of music that a scary movie uses. Sometimes a film’s soundtrack is the most powerful factor when it comes to frightening or shocking people. While they may not have realized it at the time, the audiences who watched “Jaws” were kept on the edge of their seats by the movie’s infamous score.
