NBA Playoff Predictions As A Post Season Guide

For many fans, the basketball post season is the best time of the sport’s year. Just about everybody, even the casual follower, gets involved in making NBA playoff predictions. Some seasons, predicting who is going to win is more of a challenge than in other years.

At the end of the regular season, 16 teams are left to determine who the eventual champion will be. This is the time of year when basketball really gets exciting. It is clear that, as only the best teams are participating, the intensity of play increases dramatically.

As the best teams are left to compete for the championship, there is a better overall quality of play. Players, coaches and fans realize a lot more is at stake. Unlike in the regular season, players seem to show more effort for the entire game.

People who follow the sport seem to pick up the level of interest during this time of year. A post season series gives fans a chance to learn more about the opponent and its players. There may be as many as 7 games for each series. This allows the average fan an opportunity to find out a lot about individual player strengths and weaknesses.

Injuries are part of any sport. An untimely injury could be the difference between winning and losing. These are things that are extremely difficult to predict. One interesting feature of this time of year is seeing how different teams deal with physical setbacks to players.

The basketball post season lasts for nearly two months. But most fans really savor every moment. In no other sport is there such a combination of power, speed and agility. And when the final two teams remain, the highest level of talent is on full display.

There are just so many different factors that go into determining whose NBA playoff predictions are the most accurate. Obviously, one gets a great deal of satisfaction out of predicting that a team will win and then having that prognostication come true. Regardless of the final results, the games are always exciting and entertaining.

NFL (American Football) - California’s Glory Years 1977-1995

The NFL (American Football) Super Bowl is contested each year by the American Football Conference (AFC) and the National Football Conference (NFC). The first three championships in 1967-1969 were known as the ‘AFL-NFL World Championship Game.’ The first ‘Super Bowl’ was not played until 1970, a useful fact to have in mind should the issue come up in a game of trivia. Every member of the team that wins the Super Bowl receives an elaborate and high coveted jewel-encrusted ring.

In the first 45 years since the championship began, the US state that has won the highest number of Super Bowl games is California. Between them, the San Francisco 49ers and the Oakland Raiders (known as the Los Angeles Raiders in Super Bowl XVIII, played in 1984) have won five and three championships, respectively.

On January 25, 1977, the Oakland Raiders won their first Super Bowl game against the Minnesota Vikings with a score of 32-34. This was Super Bowl XI. The Most Valuable Player (MVP) was wide receiver, Fred Biletnikoff. Snow fell in Miami, Florida, for the first and only time the previous week. The Raiders’ next Super Bowl win was on January 25, 1981, against the Philadelphia Eagles. They won 27-10. This was Super Bowl XV and the MVP was Oakland quarterback, Jim Plunkett. In the same month, the television shows, ‘Dynasty’ and ‘Hill Street Blues’ were first aired.

Later in 1981, the team moved to Southern California to become the Los Angeles Raiders and their home stadium became the Coliseum. In 1984, they won Super Bowl XVIII against the Washington Redskins, beating them 38-9. Running Back, Marcus Allen, was voted MVP.

In 1982, quarterback Joe Montana led the San Francisco 49ers to their first-ever Super Bowl victory against the Cincinnati Bengals with a score of 26-21. Having led the team to victory just two weeks after undergoing spinal surgery, it is perhaps unsurprising that Montana was voted MVP. The ‘Niners’ next Super Bowl trophy was captured from the Miami Dolphins in 1985 when, one again, Joe Montana was named MVP. Head Coach Bill Walsh led the team to both of their first two victories.

The San Francisco 49ers won Super Bowls XXIII, XXI and XXIX. The only American states to come close to California’s record are Pennsylvania, with a total of six championship wins, and Texas, with five.

Making The Best Sports Picks You Can

Whenever people are faced with deadlines, we have a tendency to make rash decisions and to not put as much thought into our choices as we might if we had more time to do so. The same is especially true when making sports picks. If you wait to the last minute, you could be in trouble.

However, that can largely be attributed to the fact that Major League Baseball is a sport that is so ingrained in our society as Americans. Baseball has been around for as long as most of it’s fans can remember. Almost everyone has some sort of memory about how they went to their first game, saw their first baseball card, or even played their first little league game.

You could walk into the local bar and ask the first ten people you see if they watched the game last night. Out of those ten people, you would be lucky if you found one that is a hockey fan. But although he likes the sport, he did not happen to catch the game you need the information on because he is not that big of a fan.

A left handed pitcher going up against a mostly right handed team of hitters changes everything. The problem is that the other people in your pool have already picked all the powerful pitchers and you are left with the nobodies. The players that will most likely not play half the games that your team is scheduled for in your league.

The best people close to the team that will be a source of that information is usually the teams assigned sports reporter for the local newspaper. And not just because the newspaper will print the information, but because they too have a website. Everybody has a website in today’s world, and that will always be the best source of information.

The fact is that unless you make you choices as soon as you can, you are out of luck. Use the information available on the Internet as much as possible. Everything is there for you to use, the stats, the players tendencies, and what the managers will likely do against certain teams and who he will play in his rotation.

Making sports picks can be as easy or as hard as you want to make it for yourself. But with the wealth of information that is available today, it is much easier to make an informed decision on what team will win, cover a spread, or even blow an over or under out of the water.

The Truth About The Adrian Peterson Workout

This article is all about the Adrian Peterson workout and how it enabled him to be the most feared running back in NFL. This Minnesota Viking has almost superhuman skills and is often a league leader in rushes. The Adrian Peterson workout is given much of the credit for his success and he places a lot of emphasis on preparation. Keep reading to learn more about this special workout.

Before the season begins, the Adrian Peterson workout will consist of lifting 2-3 times a week. Lifting must also allow cardio, so upper and lower body lifting is tightly co-ordinated. In the off season lifting is done 5 times a week. Upper body would be done on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. With a goal of 6-10 reps, the exercises consist of lots of dumbbell presses, pull ups, barbell presses and rows. Peterson likes to feel like he is doing work, so you won’t find him clocking up miles on the treadmill or stationary bike, he likes to get outside and run. Getting a good sweat up makes him feel like he is getting work done.

Leg training has a major emphasis in the Adrian Peterson workout. The legs are hammered on Tuesday and Thursday with higher reps done on some exercises. Adrian is a big advocate of hitting every muscle from the calves to the hamstrings and quads. Single squats, lunges and full squats are all part of the program which also includes hip abduction, curls and leg extensions. Maxing out in college Adrian reportedly squatted 540 lbs. But now the focus is on more reps with a weight around 315 pounds. A great workout is still done with the higher reps and lighter weight. Decreasing reps are done during the three sets.

A strong work ethic has always been evident in the Adrian Peterson workout program. He has been called ‘a robot’ with regards to his love of conditioning. The rewards of his investment in conditioning are evident and Adrian is a firm believer in what it has done for him. At the University of Oklahoma the Adrian Peterson workout was a little more barbaric. Adrian was known to pull sleds up hills and do 80 pound weighted box jumps. He also did plenty of sandbag work and resistance training. He also pushed himself hard with plenty of hill running which was done backwards and for extended periods of time.

Being explosive is a big part of the Adrian Peterson workout. He loves to run sprints length ways across the field. First done at the University of Oklahoma, these are done for triples which is over, back and over again for a total of 150 yards. Four of there are done after practice and team mates are following suit and joining in on this drill in the Adrian Peterson workout.

There is no arguing with the results the Adrian Peterson workout has gotten for Adrian. But for those of us who are not professional athletes or with really gifted genetics, a more realistic approach to training could be a better way to accomplish our fitness and physique goals. There are some smarter ways to go about weight training and cardio training that can yield great results, while still allowing you to live the life of a non-professional athlete.
